Description

Despite the name, buckwheat is not related to wheat, as it is not a grass; instead, buckwheat is related to sorrel, knotweed, and rhubarb. Buckwheat contains no gluten[25] and can consequently be eaten by people with coeliac disease or gluten allergies. Buckwheat contains a glucoside called rutin, a phytochemical that strengthens capillary walls.
